Welcome! This site provides resources for studying and sharing the scriptures. Our focus is the collections and books of scripture accepted as cannonical by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, usually referred to as the "standard works."
The Old Testament is a collection of books kept and preserved by the Jews in ancient Israel. It includes history, laws, prophecies, and religious poetry from the Creation and Adam and Eve up to about 400 BC.
The New Testament contains Jesus Christ’s teachings and earthly ministry in Israel, as well as the ministry of church leaders after Christ's resurrection and ascension. It was written in the first century AD.
More info about the Old and New Testaments is available on the Church website: Bible Dictionary: Bible.
The Book of Mormon is a collection of books written by prophets in the Americas who taught their people about Jesus Christ between 600 BC and 400 AD. A central part of the record is Jesus Christ’s visit to the Americas after his resurrection.
More info about the Book of Mormon is available on the Church website: Introduction to the Book of Mormon.
The Doctrine and Covenants is a selection of revelations given to Joseph Smith and other latter-day prophets between 1820 and 1920, which form the basis for the organization of the Church today. Also included are two official declarations published in 1890 and 1978.
The Pearl of Great Price contains additional writings by Moses and Abraham, a section from the Joseph Smith Translation of Matthew, excerpts from Joseph Smith’s history and testimony, and the Articles of Faith.
More info about the Pearl of Great Price is available on the Church website: Introduction, Pearl of Great Price.
